Cedar Hall Athlete Sponsorship Programme – Towards Victory!.

Cedar Hall Clinics has been an innovator in treatment sponsorships for promising young athletes. We work with our athletes and their coaches to achieve optimum fitness for their chosen sport both before and after competition.

Where Cedar Hall Clinics has led, we are delighted that other practitioners have followed, so that more and more osteopaths and sports injury therapists are also involved in athlete sponsorship programmes.

The spectacular performances of great British sports men & women like Bradley Wiggins, Sir Chris Hoy, Jessica Ennis, Victoria Pendleton, Greg Rutherford, and Mo Farah at London 2012, serves to enthuse not only our aspiring Olympians but also inspires us to continue and even expand our sponsorship programme.

The whole nation has been exhilarated & electrified with Team GB at London 2012 – we’ve rejoiced with them in victory and commiserated with them in defeat. And without exception we have marvelled at their commitment, enthusiasm & effort. Our future Olympians GIANNI FRANKIS, HAYLEY MCLEAN, DALE CLUTTERBUCK, JOSH OLAWORE & SOPHIE RICHES, are all working hard to be the next generation of athletes the nation can cheer on to victory. And we will be with them!

Cedar Hall Clinic Athlete Sponsorship Programme

Cedar Hall Clinics in Benfleet and Thurrock leads the way in offering treatment sponsorships to up and coming local young athletes. The Athlete Sponsorship Programme was the brainchild of clinic directors Sara Lovett & Jacki Milne, both involved in various sporting activities from an early age.

Knowing from their own experiences the lack of quality treatment support to young athletes, Sara & Jacki with the help of Essex Athletic Network chose English Schools Champion Georgia Atkins, as the first recipient of a treatment sponsorship. Now nearly 18 months on, five more full treatment sponsorships have been awarded to young potential Olympians.

Gianni Frankis, coached by former Olympian Tony Jarrett, is probably the most high profile athlete to be awarded a treatment sponsorship. This exciting young hurdler, is a potential selection for London 2012 and is currently working hard to recover from a hamstring injury to achieve his goal. Another member of our Athlete Sponsorship Programme is 17yr old Hayley McLean, a 400m hurdler with a stack of titles to her name. She has been invited to compete at the Olympic Stadium this May in the British Universities & Colleges Sport event. A huge honour and a challenge she relishes. Hayley is a member of Chelmsford AC and is coached by Steve Mitchell.

Talented all rounder Joahua Olawore, coached by Tony Benton and Trevor Wells, has great potential. He was awarded the Young Sports Personality of the Year at the Essex Sports Awards in November 2011. He followed this in December with the U18 individual title at Schools International Pentathlon, Kelvin Hall, Glasgow – leading England to victory! Cedar Hall Clinic is proud to sponsor this young athlete.

Our youngest recipient of a sponsorship is 16 yr old Sophie Riches, an exciting prospect and excellent athlete. Sophie ran 4m 37.20s recently to win the under-20 women’s 1,500m at Chelmsford in what was the fastest time run outside by an under-17 athlete this year. She  will be competing at the UK School Games at the Olympic Stadium on May 9 and has been selected as a torch bearer for 2012. Sophie is coached by Christian Dailly.

Twenty year old Dale Clutterbuck is the latest welcome addition to our Athlete Sponsorship Programme. A middle distance runner, Dale is a member of Basildon AC and is coached by former Olympian and Commonwealth gold medallist Rob Denmark. In summer of 2011 Dale achieved PB’s in 800m, 1500m & 3000m winning the Essex Championships. His long term goal is Olympics 2016 in Rio.

The sponsorships cover all aspects of the athletes therapeutic needs as they work towards achieveing their sporting goals, including regular maintenance massage with our sports injuries and rehabilitation specialists. This assists recovery from ever increasing training loads and allows the athlete to stay injury free and continue to compete at high levels. Osteopathy & podiatry treatment and advice are always available when needed.
