Welcome to Our New Sports Massage Therapist
We are delighted to welcome the very talented & dedicated therapist Nicola Swart to Cedar Hall Clinics.
Nicola qualified in Sports & Remedial massage at the highly respected London School of Sports Massage, achieving a Level 5 Diploma. She also gained a further qualification in Oncology massage from the North London School of Sports Massage.
After working for many years in the City, Nicola decided to pursue her dream and train for a career in Sports and Remedial massage. Her passion for massage therapy began after receiving regular treatments herself during an 11 year kickboxing career and competing in many tournaments. She now trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & holds a purple belt.
Nicola also works as a Massage Therapist at a local care home that provides 24 hour care for people with learning and physical disabilities. She is a dedicated practitioner who firmly believes from her own experience that massage therapy is beneficial for everyone.

Cedar Hall Clinics – Back in Action
We are pleased to announce that Cedar Hall Clinics will be reopening on Monday 1st June for ALL patients.
As always our top priority continues to be patient and staff safety therefore you will notice some new and updated procedures in place when you arrive for treatment.
All staff will be wearing disposable PPE including gloves, masks, aprons & visors (if required). There will be an appropriate gap after each patient to allow for PPE changes and disposal, the disinfectant of treatment rooms and all contact points in the clinic. This gap will also ensure there is a limited number of people in the clinic so social distancing can be maintained.
Protective screens have been placed on Reception desk and we ask you where possible to use contactless card payment. For your convenience the limit has been increased to £45
We will also be asking you to wear masks, so please feel free to bring your own if you prefer and sanitise your hands on arrival. If necessary non contact temperature checks will be done on arrival and any patients presenting with symptoms of illness will be asked to reschedule their appointment.
Please arrive for your appointment at the time due and not early so as to avoid crowding in Reception. Also unless you are under 16, a vulnerable adult or have mobility restrictions, please do not bring other people to your appointment.
We appreciate that some of these procedures mean we can’t as yet return to our usual relaxed and informal atmosphere but it is in all our interest to adhere to these guidelines for the time being. In the meantime you can still be assured of a warm & friendly welcome and the best of treatments.

Five Things About……
With people embracing new diets for the new year, we thought it was important to explain the health benefits of some foods that can be easily added into your cooking, so here is the first in our mini series created by our osteopath James.
Garlic
1. Help fight colds and sickness. A 12-week study found that a daily garlic supplement reduced the number of colds by 63% compared to a placebo.
2. Could be beneficial in reducing blood pressure. Some studies have found garlic supplements to have a significant impact on reducing blood pressure in people with high blood pressure.
3. It may help lower cholesterol. Studies have demonstrated a reduction in total and/or LDL cholesterol by about 10–15%.
4. Garlic contains antioxidants that support the body’s protective mechanisms against oxidative damage. These antioxidants may reduce the risk of common brain diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
5. Could help maintain health bones. rodent studies have shown that it can minimise bone loss by increasing oestrogen in females.

Pregnancy – Conceiving Naturally
Following on from the previous post by Acupuncturist Laura Jones about the menstrual cycle she now talks about conceiving naturally.
“I think nowadays many of us believe falling pregnant is going to be easy… But unfortunately 1 in 7 couples are said to be struggling to conceive here in the UK (2013 NHS stats) that’s approximately 3.5 million people! Almost 30% of these cases are unexplained. For those going through that turbulent time of trying to conceive without success, the idea of there being “a problem” can be all consuming and scary. Often leaving either or both partners feeling guilty and helpless… Many emotions fluctuate and can cause anxiety, stress, depression… It’s unique to each person and that in turn can disrupt your insides!
There’s a very delicate balance of hormones required of both parties in order to fall pregnant let alone making sure you’re utlitisng the optimum time in the woman’s cycle! It’s amazing we conceive at all!

New Home for Thurrock Clinic
Cedar Hall Clinic, based in Stanford le Hope for the last ten years has moved to a larger premises, just 9 minutes by car up the road to the bustling hub of Corringham Town Centre.
The new practice at 14 Grover Walk, Corringham, Essex SS17 7LY, has three treatment rooms which will allow patients more treatment time options. The directors of the clinic Sara Lovett & Jacki Milne are looking to employ another Osteopath and one or two Sports Massage therapists to complete a very busy treatment team.
